Been lurking here for a little while because I’m having A DAY. Times like when I’m feeling a little low mood-wise or a little fatigued – I really miss remote work.
Back story: used to be basically remote for the past 5 years. Previous job was demanding but I liked it because I enjoyed a good reputation with my leader, felt cared for, was a good worker and manager, enjoyed the benefits.
Then moved countries. Old job couldn’t support out-of-country remote work since I work in banking. New country is the USA, I now work in the SF Bay Area, and here it’s RTO mandates galore. Very long work hours, very messy department, lots of attitude issues and skeletons in the closet regarding relationships within the department (which actually endsd up hurting collaboration big time…to think that collaboration is used as a selling point for RTO). Plus, I have gained weight, basically no time to exercise, feel worse about myself than i have in a long time, chronic neck and back pain from constantly sitting and occasionally standing. I am 32 years old and a CPA, if that matters.
Looking for any advice to get out that y’all might have. Not sure how many Finance roles support remote work.
