Would you actually work in a 2D metaverse office?

There are a lot of 2D metaverse-style platforms coming up where teams can work in a virtual office. Your avatar can move around, join rooms, and talk to people nearby.

For both managers and employees, would you prefer spending your office hours in something like this? btw I am a second year cs student just curious Abt this cause currently my remote internship is going on , and I just had this thought

You could walk into meeting rooms instead of scheduled calls. If you are near someone, you can just talk with spatial audio, where sound comes from the direction people are positioned. There are also features like screen sharing and real-time collaboration.

Instead of saying “let’s take a zoom meet at 9 PM,” it becomes “let’s meet in the 2nd floor meeting room.”

Do you think this would actually improve productivity, or just make things more complicated?
