Hey [r/remotework](r/remotework),

I’m a solo dev based in the UK and I spent the past year building a Windows app that adds real-time subtitles and translation to any audio on your PC.
The reason I’m posting here is not to pitch it, but
to get honest feedback from people who actually live the international remote meeting experience daily.

Quick context on what it does: captures system audio from a Zoom/Teams/Meet call, transcribes it live, and shows translated subtitles in an overlay window on top of the meeting. Works for 49 languages. Also works on YouTube, recorded videos, even mobile calls mirrored to PC.

What I want to ask the community:

  1. For those of you on international teams, what’s the
  2. actual biggest friction point right now? Is it the
  3. language barrier itself, or accents, or speed, or
  4. something else?
  5. Current built-in solutions (Teams live captions,
  6. Google Meet translation, Zoom captions) which one
  7. actually works for you, and where do they fail?
  8. Would you trust a third-party tool to sit on top
  9. of your work calls, or is that a non-starter for

Happy to answer anything about the app itself in the
comments if it’s useful, but mostly I just want to
hear how people are solving this today and what’s
still broken.

Thanks for any input.
