Should I be worried of being scammed? I am honestly stressing…I applied to this online job to be a Virtual Assistant for a small business in another state. I received an email that seems very professional about a day after asking if I was still interested and they really liked my resume. I replied that i am and would love to hear back from them. They then sent me an email asking to answer a series of questions related to the job “how would i approach this and in my past jobs how did i had that… stuff in normal job applications and i needed to forward it to the lady sending me the emails and the CEO. I answered and emailed back. 2 days later i get a text from the CEO asking if i received the hiring agreement to move on to the onboarding process. I google searched the company before and it had a legit website…so i looked up the phone number and it went back to the website. the only thing is now the website is saying it is having a error…but i did look at the contract and it seems good. they have not asked me for any information like my banking or said i have to pay anything to them. I signed the contract which says i can terminate it at any point i just have to give a 2 weeks notice. Now they did give me a address for the company which matches the Secretary of state for the buisness… yes i looked up the Secretary of state which says the company started in 2022 and the owners name matches the last name of the one on the secretary of State but is not the same first name. He said i can call him if i have any questions but i have not talked to anyone via phone or video at all… i am stressing tbh its an amazing offer could it be too good to be true??? Is there anything i should be looking for and anything i need to check out? UPDATE So yesterday The “CEO” called me and it was a very weird conversation but I was like whatever I was just riding it until they tried to scam me. Well… just now i got this email…which proves that it a 100% scam now i just need advice, what am I supposed to do now? Do I ghost them? Do i send a email that I declined the offer? They said they sent me a check which I know is a scam move because the check will bounce or something like that. What should my next moves be? Has anyone else dealt with this? submitted by /u/ProperWar8455 |
