Long story short, I went through the process of actually setting up my linkedIn profile (adding missing information, decent profile picture, etc) and I noticed you can filter jobs from the date posted to the type of employment yadada. Anyway, I cleaned up my profile, set the apply setting to quick apply (easy apply) and looked up remote jobs like crazy and started applying to all of them.

Although some appeared to be scams or “100%” commissions type jobs I managed to land a part time position for a customer service rep in Pittsburgh!!! The hours are flexible and the starting pay is above $20 so I am beyond excited to start later this month!

I used to think it was impossible to land remote work as many applications of mine were rejected by 100+ employers. What helped me I believe was:

  • Cleaning up my resume (spent a day making it look presentable and informative)
  • Cleaning up my LinkedIn profile so that I appear serious about finding work (e.g. I used to have a pfp of me drinking coffee, now its me in a collared shirt looking professional)
  • Quantity of applications: Applying to 100+ jobs in a day with the aforementioned filters (before I would apply to a few tech related jobs a day)
  • Checking my email every so often to see if offers were actually made

Just making this post as hopefully a sign of hope for anyone out there considering remote work. It does feel awesome to start working again!
