I see a lot of posts from you saying your companies are enforcing RTO policies. My company was one of them. I just wanted to let you know there’s still hope. I’ve read a lot of posts about how fierce competition is for a truly remote job and how, when you do find one, they receive thousands of applications.
My current employer announced that we’ll be returning to the office in phases starting in September (we’ll start with one day a week and gradually increase; since COVID, we’ve been working from home full-time). This really upset me, so the same day they announced it, I updated my resume and applied for a remote admin position with a competitor.
They interviewed me on Friday and offered me the position, which is entirely remote, that same day. I was able to resign that same day and openly told them that the only reason I quit was the backward idea of going back to the office. I had been employed there for 12 years and was much more productive working from home. I discussed my situation with two managers, but to no avail. So I decided to leave.
Cheer up and keep applying! There are some really reputable remote jobs out there. My contract even states that I work exclusively from home and don’t have an office. They even offered me more salary than I asked for!
Don’t let those pointless RTO rules sway you! Update your resume and showcase your skills to other, more progressive companies.
