I have been working remotely for a while now and I still struggle with ending the workday cleanly. When I worked in an office, the commute and stopping somewhere on the way home created a natural buffer, but now I often catch myself staring at Slack at 5:30 PM without having left my desk chair once.
To break that habit, I am trying to build a dedicated landing spot away from my desk for a quick fifteen-minute reset after closing the laptop. The goal is to have a comfortable spot for reading or decompressing that does not feel like work gear.
But space at home is limited, so most of those huge, bulky massage chairs on the market are out of question.
I’ve been looking at compact loungers like the nouhaus new classic and the slightly wider nou campo because they look more like regular accent chairs than office equipment, even when the rollers or heat are switched off. It’s clean, elegant look also matches my home decor perfectly, and just looking at it helps me feel more relaxed. I haven’t decided whether buying another chair would actually help me log off more consistently, so I’m trying to figure out the routine before getting too invested in the furniture.
Curious if having a distinct physical spot to sit right after logging off actually helps people mentally clock out, or if you need to leave the house entirely.
