I got laid off last October, and since then I’ve basically been working from home doing a mix of online side gigs. My previous full-time job was in ecommerce, so I leaned into that and started selling some simple products from home using genstore. Since I already had some background in this space, the site traffic has been decent enough that I don’t have to live off my savings.

These days I work less than three hours a day most of the time. The rest of the day is just life. I finally stuck to a workout plan instead of talking about it forever, and I even started growing plants, something I always said I’d do when I had time.

Not having to commute has saved me way more than I expected. Less money spent on work clothes, no random lunches outside, no daily coffee just to survive the office. And mentally it’s quieter too. No rushing, no small talk I don’t have the energy for.

Now I’m honestly not sure if I can go back to a normal office job in 2026. Every time I think about applying to something that requires sitting in an office again, my body kind of resists lol. Am I doomed to only look for remote roles from now on, or has WFH just completely spoiled me?
