I recently started to worry a lot about my career path and was looking to make a slight pivot in my field, and because of that, I was madly trying to find any available jobs and then getting more worried because nothing is available (and what is available wants you to have 5+ years of experience).
Like anyone does, I went on Reddit for advice and then decided to try this “cold message” thing that people talk about a lot. Let me tell you, I sent about 12 messages, four of them were via InMail, and the rest were with a connection request.
Only three were sent to recruiters or people in high-ranking positions in companies I thought might offer a job. The rest were people like me, working lower down the chain and usually don’t have many connections themselves. My messages simply said, “We have the same educational background or a similar one, I’m very interested in your field of work, could you share your experience?”.
It’s a joke, of course, that I thought at least one would reply. It gets even worse when you see that they saw your profile but are completely ghosting you. It’s like they’re basically saying ‘screw me,’ lmao.
