Before this role I ran my own digital studio, and some freelance gigs. For over half a year I’ve worked remotely for a B2B startup. I was hired for narrow web work, and the role has grown a lot since then. Basically became a generalist.

What I do now:

  • Build and manage CRMs for the company and our clients.
  • Train clients on their CRMs and handle implementations.
  • n8n and AI automations.
  • GTM input and ad campaigns.
  • Sales: cold calling, follow-ups, appointment setting, and closing when the call gets there.
  • Sales for our clients; kept a few of them from churning months longer than expected.
  • Internal processes, plus input on hiring and letting people go.

Most of this I learned because I was trusted with it, and I put in the time to do it properly. The founder introduced me as his right-hand person in a meeting with our main account, long-term client. I’m grateful and I’m not planning to leave.

The problem is the pay. I’m still on the low hourly rate I was hired at for that narrow web role, and the more I automate, the fewer hours there are to bill. I’ve got more time than I’d like and I hate it. It feels like slacking, and I need the work and the income, especially since I’m relocating soon.

The fouder’s also big on automation, and the company is now much leaner. Puts a bit of concern about security on top.

So I’m looking for a second role. Ops, Sales with base + commission is fine. Open to hearing what mix I should target.

Every job I’ve gotten came through here, usually within a week. LinkedIn & other job boards have never worked for me.

A few questions:

  1. What roles fit this mix? Implementation, client success, ops, sales?
  2. How would you pitch this so employers see what I can actually own?
  3. Where would you look, and what strategy would you use? Reddit, cold outreach to agencies or startups, job boards, something else?
