Well, I was laid off from a fully remote, pretty cushy job in November and I’ve just landed a hybrid (2 days in office) role. I am very much trying to look at it through the lens That this is a horrible economy and I’ve done well to Land as fast as I did.

the organization seems to be about as remote-friendly as one can get for having an in-office quota. they are fine with stacking office days and arranging them around personal commitments and personal preferences.

in the interview I mentioned candidly that returning to two days will be a big adjustment for me and the interviewers gave each other a very knowing look. Given that I got an offer very soon after, I’m hoping that this means there’s some subtext, like the 2 day requirement is more flexible than they let on or perhaps they’re going to eventually ditch the office (It’s the type of sector where many places have ditched offices).

anyway, not much point to this post except to say please enjoy your 5 remote days for me and any words of encouragement are warmly welcomed!
