China hours land perfectly here and I don’t think enough people realise it. Been thinking about this a lot lately. The sweet spot for teaching Chinese kids online is Beijing evenings — and Beijing evenings are European afternoons. Weekdays you’re done by 2-4pm local time in most of Western and Central Europe. Eastern Europe and the Caucasus it’s even better — Tbilisi, for instance, is literally 2-6pm on weekdays.
Meanwhile most nomads I talk to in Southeast Asia are already quietly doing this. The ones in Europe haven’t quite caught on yet.
Anyway, I work with a team that connects native English speakers with one of the world’s largest ed companies for online teaching. $16 USD/hr, no lesson prep, 6-40 hrs/week, fully structured curriculum. Minimum TEFL/TESOL/CELTA and a bachelor’s degree.
Not trying to turn this into a job ad — genuinely curious whether people here have tried online ESL as part of their income mix, and whether the hours work for where you’re based. Happy to share more details in the comments or DMs.
