Had 11 windows open yesterday at 2pm. Slack, email, a doc I opened at 9am and never finished, two half-baked tasks, a browser tab I don’t even remember opening.
I wasn’t slacking. I was genuinely busy all day. But when 6pm hit I couldn’t tell you what I actually did.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot, task switching feels like work. It has the texture of productivity. But your brain is just spinning, never going deep on anything.
What actually works for you? Not the generic “turn off notifications” advice. Like what genuinely changed how you work?
