Do I really need a home office setup?

Hi everyone,

I recently started my PhD and live just 10 minutes by foot from my office. The office is open-plan, but is practically empty on Thursdays and Fridays. Attendance is only required on Wednesdays.

I’m debating whether I need a home office setup or not, given I live very close to the office. I would be looking at spending roughly 1k Euros. I can afford it without issues, but I am not sure whether it is justified.

Should I hold off for a few months and see if I am comfortable working in the office? Or should I pull the trigger now since I’ll be in this PhD program for the next 4 years? Thanks in advance for your input.
