Feeling disappointed. Anyone else struggling?

I honestly just need to know I’m not alone in this because I’m starting to feel really discouraged.

I’ve been applying pretty heavily to remote positions in data entry, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, billing, and accounting/admin work. I have around 3 years of experience in accounting-related roles, including AR, billing, Excel/data entry, reconciliations, schedules, and maintaining financial records. I’m also currently working toward my Associate degree in Business Administration.

My goal is pretty simple: I want to eventually work from home in an accounting/data-entry type position. I’m not looking for some crazy $100k job or something way above my experience level. I’d be happy with something around $45K-60K that gives me stability and room to grow.

I’ve gotten several interviews/virtual interviews recently (almost 4), but unfortunately I’ve had multiple companies either not show up for the interview or completely ghost me afterward. I’ve followed up professionally and haven’t gotten responses.

I’ve also recently been contacted by a recruiter from a company called Malin Corp plc, but the process started feeling sketchy when they began talking about providing equipment through a specific vendor. I’m trying to be careful because I’ve already seen so many remote-job scams.

At this point I’m just feeling kind of hopeless. 😞 I know the remote job market is competitive, but it’s hard not to wonder what I’m doing wrong when I’m applying constantly and actually getting interviews, but nothing seems to go anywhere.

For anyone who has successfully landed a remote accounting, bookkeeping, AR, billing, or data-entry job:

How long did it take you? What finally worked for you? And are there any job boards or companies you would recommend that aren’t just Indeed/ZipRecruiter/LinkedIn?

Honestly, I’d also just appreciate hearing from people who went or are going through the same thing. I could really use some reassurance so I know I’m not wasting my time and that eventually something will work out.
