I loved being remote, truly i did. 7 years later, being laid off made me realize how unstable being a fully remote worker is. They can replace you with anyone worldwide, you have no human contact with colleagues. I held a really great title with a huge biotech company but i felt invisible, lonely and depressed after years . I know a lot of people glamorize remote work but boy, i can’t wait to find a role where i actually have peers and people to see and talk to, hell maybe even a Christmas party, something human.
Remote work is so dehumanizing, for so many reasons.
That said, remote work should exist for people who don’t need any of those things. If I were a manager, i would allow remote work for people who would rather work that way.
Edit: you all are miserable people, no wonder you support a dying culture
