Are Discord-Based Job Ads on Reddit Legit? Seeking Remote Work in Accounting or Social Media Marketing

I’ve noticed several job ads in various subreddits where recruiters or hiring managers ask you to connect with them on Discord instead of applying through a proper platform. Honestly, this is a major red flag legitimate employers rarely move conversations off-platform this quickly, and many of these are outright scams designed to waste your time or steal your information.

That said, I’m actively looking for remote work, specifically in accounting or social media marketing. Between the two, social media marketing tends to have more remote-friendly opportunities and lower entry barriers, while accounting roles often require verified credentials and more structured hiring processes.
