Everyone keeps saying AI is going to wipe out entire industries. And yeah, some jobs are disappearing. But from where I’m standing as a solo founder, I’ve never had more leverage in my life.
A year ago, building a SaaS alone meant either burning cash on a dev team or spending 2 years learning to code properly. Now I’m shipping features in days. My “team” is me + a few AI tools. My costs are a fraction of what they’d be otherwise.
But here’s what I keep wondering — is this actually democratizing entrepreneurship, or just shifting who gets disrupted?
Because for every solo founder like me who benefits, there’s a junior developer, a copywriter, or a customer support team getting replaced.
So genuine question to this community: do you think AI is net positive or net negative for small business owners and indie founders specifically?
Not talking about big corps. Not talking about the economy as a whole.
Just: if you’re building something on your own or with a small team right now — is AI your best weapon or your biggest threat?
I’ll start: for me it’s been a weapon. But I’m aware I might be in a privileged position because I’m building with AI rather than competing against it.
Curious if others feel the same or completely opposite.
