My manager just sent an email: we have to DM him on Slack every time we get up from our desks (while we’re working from home).

My manager’s obsession with control has gone from bad to officially insane. He already monitors our keyboard activity because our Slack status isn’t enough for him. Every week, he sends our performance stats to the entire department so everyone can see who is lagging. He even writes how much revenue each of us is making, which is always way above our targets, but it’s never enough. He’s complained before about people taking 30 seconds to answer the door for a delivery or get a drink from the kitchen if it’s not during an official break. But today he sent a mandatory-read email to the whole team: we are now required to DM him every time we get up from our desks, for any reason, for any length of time. This man is officially insane.

And no, of course, I will absolutely not be doing that.
