I’ve lived in the USA south since I moved to this country, almost 15 years now, but due to the current political and social environment we decided it would be a good idea to move closer to my in law family (all the way north of the country 😅) and a few weeks ago we started house hunting, school hunting, planning the move and everything in between but one of the requisites to get a mortgage these days is to obtain a letter from your employer that your job would be safe and sound if you are doing remote work. Long story short my company said no to work remotely because they just started enforcing RTO heavily and for employees to be closer to a company main building (which in my case there is not one). So here I am crushing my perfect plan of moving with no delays or issues and jumping back into the job hunting saddle. I have a decent experience in my field but to be honest, I’m petrified on how the job market is right now and having to compete with millions of people trying to grab a remote work position. I’m not holding any hopes for something showing up fast but at least something that I can find that will allow me to continue working in my field. How has been your experience lately if you have been encountered with the hammer of RTO? Do I really have a chance to find a position that will allow me to work remotely? Thanks for reading me vent.
